Study your craft : put your passion to use

“Do what you love and you will never work a single day in your life”

As I entered the world of college last year, my dad once told me this and kept it ever since. It took me a year to realize how much destiny led me to this. I took opportunities for granted when I was younger because I was too much busy minding what others would think of me. I was too preoccupied minding things I liked not what I truly loved. I value a lot of things like music and sports. Volleyball has been a priority,so was making music and I put photography last way back in high school. I asked myself before if I prioritized Photography in high school, would I feel better about myself now? I had doubts and regrets when I asked myself why I didn’t.

The great Confucius one said “It does not matter how slow you go, so long as you do not stop”. There is never a late time for improvement. I’m just starting hence, like what dad told me, I will study my craft and will put my passion into action.

I always remind myself that life’s not a competition. People consider it to be, but that shouldn’t be a reason for me to make myself be a part of it. It’s normal to feel competitive and compare yourself to others because it’s reality’s nature. However, I believe my purpose of existing means so much differently.

I like my art to be a way of telling stories. I like my art to be a way of touching people hearts. I like my art to be memorable not because it won an award but because it made an impact on people lives. It doesn’t matter whether you can do a lot of things and want to be good at all of it. My dad told me, “don’t aspire to be others who want to be everything, because you will never be good at anything”. It’s a blessing to be good at a lot of things, but it’s  majestic to be good at one thing.

You might wonder why I suddenly made this “emotive personal” entry.. HAHAH

Yesterday,I was enlisting my subjects for my 5th term and I just realized I’m almost done with my minors!!! Happy yipee yehey! Obviously speaking, I got way excited  because it means I’m taking up my design foundation subjects and majors soon!! I can’t fully explain how much grateful I am that I’m studying what I truly love (Bachelor Degree in Photography).

There’s never a day that I regret going to school (except when I’m too sleepy LOL) because studying your craft’s like being a kid going to a theme park filled with excitement and positive expectations. Everything about it is just truly incredulous :)

To get a gist of what I’m talking about.. check out what’s in store for my studies for the year and next year! :”)
